What to know about the new Saints CB!
Now that’s certainly something. The New Orleans Saints traded up to the 41st pick in the draft’s second round in the 2024 NFL Draft. With that pick, they selected Alabama cornerback Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry.
Per Nick Underhill of neworleans.football, the Saints sent picks 45, 168, and 190 to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for the pick.
Kool-Aid McKinstry was an absolute dawg for the Crimson Tide. He played with them for three years, playing in 38 games. During that time, he gathered 62 total tackles and two interceptions. He was also named first-team All-American in 2023, and first-team All-SEC the past two years. The potential value for him is very high.
McKinstry is very good on his feet, able to accelerate easily, and is a fluid mover. His football IQ is something else that stands out. What he does pre-snap, his patience, and his instinct are all a strength of his.
The nickname “Kool-Aid” was given to him by his grandmother, he revealed in an interview with the SEC network.
“I came out of my mom smiling and my grandmother was right there by the bed,” McKinstry said, “she said I had a ‘Kool-Aid’ smile,”.
Now as of right now, it’s unclear what this means for star cornerback Marshon Lattimore, if anything?
