Olivia Dunne learned on Wednesday that her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, has been officially called up to the MLB.
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Skenes with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. It was a no-brainer since he was so dominant at LSU.
On Wednesday afternoon, Dunne revealed how she found out that Skenes was getting called up to the majors. It turns out they were greeted with the news once they woke up from their afternoon nap.
Dunne posted a video on TikTok along with this caption: “POV: you both wake up from a nap and find out he’s in the MLB.”
Skenes looked impressive in Triple-A, striking out 45 batters and allowing just three earned runs in over 27 innings of work.
The Pirates are expected to start Skenes on Saturday against the Cubs.

Before the Pirates called up Skenes, general manager Ben Cherington raved about the No. 1 pick’s mentality on the mound.
“I’m sure there are moments where he thinks to himself, ‘Why am I here?’ Lots of players ask that question. But the beauty of him is that when he’s at the park, he is one of the most incredibly focused guys that we’ve seen in the minor leagues,” Cherington said. “He’s got a real drive — and I’ve said this before — but he’s not just waiting for challenges. He’s pursuing the challenge, and he wants the thing to be hard so he can get better. That’s a pretty good trait.”
Only time will tell if Skenes can live up to the hype in Pittsburgh.
