Why I think the Saints should hire Joe Brady

The Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator is a young asset and could be ready for his first gig.

With the NFL Playoffs underway, the New Orleans Saints are still in the process of finding their next head coach.

Several interviews happened this past week, including with the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, Aaron Glenn. Glenn has been in New Orleans as both a player and assistant coach, so it would make sense to bring him back as the leader.

However, there’s another man that spent a year as a offensive assistant with the Saints before going to LSU and helping orchestrate the greatest college offense of all time.

Joe Brady, currently the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, feels like the next Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan type. A young offensive mind that can relate to the players and knows that it will take a good staff around him to find success.

It’s also a move that is of low risk, high reward. Sign him to a two year contract and after two seasons, if you feel like it isn’t going in the right direction, cut your losses and try again. But if it works and you’ve given a first time head coach his opportunity to succeed? First off, he’ll never want to leave because of that. Secondly, Mickey Loomis and Gayle Benson will look like geniuses for taking a chance on the next big thing in NFL head coaches.

While the OC in Buffalo, Josh Allen is having the best year of his career, will likely win MVP, and they are the first offense in NFL history to have 30+ passing touchdowns and 30+ rushing touchdowns in the same season.

With the position that the Saints are in, this is the time to be risky if you’re willing to take the chance.

Aaron Glenn would make a good head coach as well with his defensive acumen, but Brady feels like the diamond in the rough hire in New Orleans.
