Just a few weeks before the 2020 season officially came to a close, the New York Giants made a decision on whether or not veteran back Devonta Freeman will return for another year.
The Giants signed the veteran Freeman after star back Saquon Barkley suffered a season-ending injury. Unfortunately for Freeman, he wasn’t able to stay healthy himself and he ended up out of the job.
The Giants released him in early January. Well, a few months later, the former Florida State Seminole is back on an NFL roster – staying in the NFC.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Freeman met with the New Orleans Saints earlier this afternoon. It didn’t take long for the two sides to come to an agreement on a one-year deal.
And this was quick: Former Falcons’ standout Devonta Freeman and the Saints now have reached agreement on a one-year deal, per his agent @DrewJRosenhaus. Freeman reunited with his former college teammate, Jameis Winston. https://t.co/jhg4BXjLLM

Freeman’s rookie season wasn’t anything to write home about, but he burst onto the scene during his sophomore campaign. The former Seminole racked up over 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns during the 2015 season.
He backed that up with two more strong seasons in 2016 and 2017 before falling off in 2018. He bounced back slightly in 2019, but the Falcons decided to move on from him after that.
After a tough 2020 campaign, we’ll have to wait and see how much he has left in the tank for this season.
