Marcus Maye has reportedly chosen a new home.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, the safety is signing with the Miami Dolphins. The Associated Press’ Alanis Thames confirmed the deal, which Miami has not yet made official as of late Monday night.

Schultz said Maye, who has never appeared in a playoff game, “loves” the Dolphins roster and wanted to play for a championship contender.

Maye didn’t receive that opportunity during five seasons with the New York Jets. They finished each year with a losing record, but the former second-round pick collected 312 tackles, six interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 60 games.

Maye returned a pick 104 yards during the 2018 season, but he got tackled at the 1-yard line. He’s still searching for his first career touchdown.

The defensive back’s Jets career ended when he tore his ACL in Week 9 of the 2021 season. He played the last two seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Limited to 17 combined games in 2022 and 2023, Maye amassed 97 tackles, two interceptions, and a sack. He missed the final six games of the 2023 campaign, which New Orleans finished 9-8.

In 2021, Maye was charged with driving under the influence. He served a three-game suspension in 2023 after reaching a plea deal that resulted in him receiving six months probation.

Maye would join a Dolhpins secondary led by star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. He wouldn’t be their first notable offseason acquisition, as they also signed cornerback Kendall Fuller and Pro Bowl safety Jordan Poyer.
