Update On New Orleans Superdome After Hurricane Ida

The Caesars Superdome in New Orleans has reportedly made it through the wrath of Hurricane Ida without sustaining any major damage.

According to Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune, the building was not significantly affected by the Category 4 storm that has wreaked havoc on the Gulf Coast since making landfall this weekend.

“[VP of Stadiums for ASM Global Doug] Thornton said Superdome staff conducted a walk-through damage assessment this morning and initially found only one ‘little window leak.’”

This is great news for the Superdome, but it doesn’t overshadow the devastation that Ida has caused and will continue to inflict on the region.

The storm is the second-most intense one to strike Louisiana behind only Hurricane Katrina, and knocked out power for virtually the entire city of New Orleans. At least one person has died as a direct result of Ida.

The Saints, meanwhile, are currently practicing in Dallas as the NFL monitors the situation regarding the team’s home opener against the Green Bay Packers on September 12.
