The New Orleans added five rookies via the 2022 NFL Draft, with only two Day 3 selections during the final four rounds. While they didn’t have many opportunities to select rookies, they still managed to stockpile young talent.
New Orleans supplemented a draft class spearheaded by wide receiver Chris Olave and offensive tackle Trevor Penning by signing 17 undrafted free agents.
The Saints welcomed the following players on Sunday: defensive backs DaMarcus Fields, Vincent Gray, and Jack Koerner; safety Smoke Monday; linebackers Joel Dublanko, Isaiah Pryor, and Nephi Sewell; offensive linemen Sage Doxtater, Lewis Kidd, Derek Schweiger, and Eric Wilson; kicker John Parker Romo; punter Daniel Whelan; running back Abram Smith; tight end Lucas Krulland; wide receivers Rashid Shaheed and Dai’Jean Dixon.

Nephi Sewell is the younger brother of Penei Sewell, whom the Lions selected with the No. 7 pick last season. Smith set Baylor’s single-season rushing record last season, and Dixon is a New Orleans native who scored 35 touchdowns for Nicholls State.
The Saints are throwing a lot of darts in hopes of hitting the bull’s eye on one or two prospects. They also drafted cornerback Alonte Taylor (No. 49), linebacker D’Marco Jackson (No. 161), and defensive tackle Jordan Jackson (No. 194) alongside their first-round additions.
