The New Orleans Saints won a nailbiter against the Los Angeles Chargers, overcoming a huge 20-3 deficit to tie the game and send it to overtime — and then clinch a victory. It was as exciting and exhausting as any Saints game has been all year, and all involved are likely looking forward to the Week 6 bye to recover and regroup.
In the meantime, we’ve highlighted standouts from the game who drew attention for impressive plays — or for low moments. The Saints didn’t get to such a lopsided score by playing well, after all.
And while we’ve gotten into the details on six players below, let’s take a moment to salute some playmakers like Sheldon Rankins (who notched his first sack of the year) and Wil Lutz (who made all three of his field goals, including a 53-yarder). We also shouldn’t overlook cornerback Patrick Robinson for the long touchdown pass he allowed on a coverage bust, caught looking in the backfield and losing sight of his man. Rookie receiver Marquez Callaway was as effective as advertised in the return game, and he also chipped in a few clutch completions.
