He’s a great guy on the field and off the field.

One year after helping erase over $2 million dollars in medical debt for New Orleans families, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is back at it again. This time, Thomas is working to help feed 500 New Orleans families.

The 2019 Offensive Player of the Year has partnered with Goodr, whose motto is “Feed More, Waste Less,” for a local event in New Orleans. Goodr is a distrubtion company that focuses on using modern technology and its nationwide logistics network to help fight hunger and reduce food waste. Goodr takes extra, unused food supplies and repurposes and re-routes this food to cafeterias, shelters, and charities to help people in need. From Goodr press memo:

The event will take place Saturday, July 24th at the Joe W. Brown Recreation Center (5601 Read Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70127), kicks off at 10am and is expected to run until 1pm. All guests are requested to wear masks in keeping with safety protocols.

Available items at this drive-up event include fresh produce, meat, both milk and non-dairy alternatives, bread, eggs, shelf-stable items and beverages. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Polo.

When asked what sparked this connection to Goodr and his desire to help the New Orleans community, Michael Thomas had this to say: “I believe we must continue to make an impact through our influence. It’s important to me to continue to redefine what we view to be important as people. So, this partnership with Goodr was a no brainer for me. And I look forward to doing more things with them.”
