Michael Thomas might not be the only wide receiver missing from the New Orleans Saints‘ lineup for Week 1 of the upcoming season.
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Saints wide receiver Deonte Harris was arrested earlier this month for driving while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. This occurred on July 16 in Maryland.
Amie Just of NOLA.com is reporting that Harris was driving 77 mph in a 55 mph zone. His case remains open at this time.
Players who are arrested for this particular reason usually receive two-game suspensions. That would be quite costly for the Saints considering Thomas is already on the shelf with an ankle injury.
Harris is primarily a punt returner for New Orleans, but he proved in the playoffs that he can make plays as a receiver too. During the Wild Card round against the Chicago Bears, the All-Pro return man had seven receptions for 83 yards.

Since the Saints might be without Harris and Thomas for at least the first two games of the season, the pressure will be on Marquez Callaway and Tre’Quan Smith to perform at a high level.
New Orleans may also need immediate contributions from Kawaan Baker and Chris Hogan. The former was selected in the seventh round of this year’s draft, whereas the latter was just added to the roster this week.
