New Orleans will visit the Seahawks for an early season NFC showdown.
The New Orleans Saints are set to face the Seattle Seahawks for a Week 3 NFC showdown.
The Seahawks are a drastically different team in 2025 than what they touted out in 2024. Seattle has a new quarterback after trading away veteran Geno Smith and signing Sam Darnold. Darnold had a breakout season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, throwing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns, a 14-touchdown increase from Geno Smith’s 21 touchdowns.

The Seahawks’ wide receiver room is also drastically different. Seattle cut veteran wideout Tyler Lockett due to cap constraints and traded superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers shortly after.
As both teams are in the midst of a rebuild phase, the draft is a major way to add to their roster. Seattle has been credited with one of the more successful drafts by adding three interior offensive linemen including first-round pick Grey Zabel. Among the most noticeable of the Seahawks’ picks are S Nick Emmanwori and quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Similarly to the Seahawks, the Saints had major changes to their roster in 2025. Quarterback Derek Carr retired due to medical reasons and New Orleans drafted his replacement with the 40th overall pick. The Saints will be hosting a quarterback competition throughout the offseason with a focus on second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler and rookie Tyler Shough.
Maybe the biggest difference between these teams a year later is their coaching staff. New Orleans hired Kellen Moore to be their head coach, and he brought a whole new coaching regime with him while the Seahawks took this as a chance to lure then-Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to Seattle for the same position.

The Saints and Seahawks have met 18 times in their history. New Orleans currently leads the series with 10 wins to 8 losses, with the team holding on to a four-game win streak dating back to 2016. In their most recent matchup, the Saints won 39-32 thanks to a dominant performance from Swiss army knife Taysom Hill. Hill ended the day with a passing touchdown, 112 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns.
