The New Orleans Saints got a huge Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers, earning a 38-3 win. But they may have lost an important defensive player to an injury in the process.
Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport left yesterday’s game with an injury. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported this morning that its a pec injury that will require an MRI. He is currently awaiting the test results.
Up until his injury, Davenport was having a superb game. He recorded three tackles, two tackles for loss, one QB hit and a sack before leaving the game.
The former 2018 first-round pick has been giving fans hope that this would be his breakout year. He certainly seemed like he was about to have one in yesterday’s game.
Hopefully his injury won’t stall his momentum entirely.

The New Orleans Saints defense was able to limit the high-powered Packers offense to just three points in the win. In the process, they held them to just 229 total yards and forced Packers QB Aaron Rodgers into two interceptions.
The offense was no slouch though under newly-minted starter Jameis Winston. Winston had just 14 completions, but five of them were for touchdowns.
Things are already looking up for the Saints in the first game of the post-Drew Brees era.
We’ll see if the momentum holds in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers.
When will we see Marcus Davenport return to the Saints?
