The Saints are wasting no time when it comes to constructing their roster for the 2023 season.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Saints are closing in on a multi-year contract with defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon.
“The #Saints are closing in on a multiyear contract extension with DE Tanoh Kpassagnon, per sources. Kpassagnon has six sacks over the past two seasons in New Orleans and was set to become a free agent,” Pelissero reported on Friday.
Kpassagnon was set to be a free agent this offseason.
Since joining the Saints in 2021, Kpassagnon has racked up 46 total tackles, 14 quarterback hits, six sacks and one forced fumble.
It’s possible that Kpassagnon receives a larger role on the Saints next season. After all, they could lose former first-round pick Marcus Davenport in free agency.
At the very least, the Saints retained a veteran role player without crippling their salary cap situation.
