Green tried out for New Orleans during minicamp last week and agreed to a one-year deal on Wednesday.

At 6-foot-3, Green was a quarterback at the University of Minnesota before transferring to the University of Houston and switching to fullback and tight end. The 27-year-old played two seasons in the UFL.

In 2024, Green had 11 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown for the Arlington Renegades. The 27-year-old tight end improved his numbers in 2025 with 13 receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Juwan Johnson, Taysom Hill, and Foster Moreau set the Saints’ tight end rotation. Despite having solid starters, the team has a lack of experience down the board. New Orleans drafted tight end Moliki Matavao out of UCLA in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft and signed UDFA Dollin Holker in 2024.

With Taysom Hill’s injury, Green’s flexibility could be a solid substitute while the veteran Swiss-army knife recovers from a torn ACL. Similarly to Hill, Green had 388 rushing yards and 240 receiving yards in college and offers his quarterback background.

While Green may not be a lock to make the final 53-man roster, his versatility and Taysom Hill’s injury make his chances better.
