The former Atlanta Falcon most recently played with the New York Giants last season. In his six-year career with the Falcons, Freeman rushed for nearly 4,000 yards and scored 33 touchdowns.
For his career, he’s averaged 4.1 yards per carry and 2.29 yards after contact per carry.
The 29-year-old had a bit of a down year in New York last year, he only racked up 172 yards on 3.2 yards a rush.
The Saints have a pretty deep backfield as it is — with Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray and Ty Montgomery already on the books for 2021.
Freeman will likely be another early-down option, along with Murray.
Field Yates recently reported that the Saints also had former Jaguars and Bills RB T.J. Yeldon down for a visit today.
