The New Orleans Saints need as much help as they can get at wide receiver ahead of the 2021 season. They filled the need on Monday.
The Saints have re-signed wide receiver Chris Hogan. Hogan signed with the Saints back in July, but New Orleans released him when it trimmed its roster to 53 players last week. The Saints have since made room to re-sign Hogan to the roster.
“The New Orleans Saints are bringing two veteran players back into the fold ahead of Week 1,” wrote the Around the NFL Staff, via NFL.com. “NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported the Saints are re-signing receiver Chris Hogan and backup quarterback Trevor Siemian to the 53-man roster, per a source informed of the situation.”
Knowing the kind of coach Sean Payton is, we wouldn’t be surprised if he found a role for Hogan in the Saints offense this upcoming season.
The #Saints are re-signing WR Chris Hogan today, source says. Impressed them this summer. Was always the plan to bring him back as part of the roster reshuffle following the cut to 53.

It’s pretty wild how this year has transpired for Chris Hogan. His days in the NFL appeared to be over when he had a brief stint in the Premier Lacrosse League earlier this year. The Saints then gave him an opportunity and he took advantage.
Per Saints reporter Nick Underhill, Hogan “had a good camp” and impressed with his route-running skills and football IQ.
Chris Hogan had a good camp. Runs good routes, knows how to get open. He’s a needed addition to the WR depth chart.

Chris Hogan will be in a Saints uniform when New Orleans plays the Green Bay Packers this Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
