For the first time in his NFL career, Andrus Peat won’t be wearing a No. 75 jersey for the New Orleans Saints. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Las Vegas Raiders are signing Peat, who has hung around in free agency after his contract with the Saints expired in March.
There’s a lot of experience walking out the door. Peat appeared in 111 regular season games during his 10-year career with the Saints, third-most on the team among active players. He was one of five players from the 2023 team that had suited up in 100-plus games, but just three of them are expected to be on the field in 2024.
This is what remodeling the roster looks like. We can argue about how important Peat was to the team’s success last year, and whether re-signing him should have been a higher priority this offseason, but this team did need turnover. They’re still relying on too many starters on the wrong side of 30 especially on defense. Getting younger, faster, and more ambitious isn’t a bad thing. It’s just critically important that the Saints replace Peat with an upgrade after choosing to let him leave.
So which Saints players are the most experienced on the squad? Here’s a quick look at those who have played more regular season games for New Orleans than anyone else on the roster:
