A move that makes sense with an open roster spot.
After the release of offensive tackle Josh Ball, the New Orleans Saints now have a roster spot open. If this roster move were due to a potential signing being made, that spot would go to a player that the Saints were preparing to sign, but this does not seem to be the case. Yesterday, the New Orleans tried out eight players, per Nick Underhill.
Saints tried out the following players:
LB Jared Bartlett
P Jake Camarda
DB Luke Gunderson
P Kai Kroeger
T Ricky Lee
T Jalen McKenzie
T Jonathan Mendoza
LB Keenan Pili— Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) July 29, 2025
This direction that the Siants have decided to go in may have revealed why Josh Ball was released in the first place. It seems in training camp that Josiah Ezirim has done well so far, and his success may have pushed Ball to the outside. It is also important to note that New Orleans is still looking to add tackle depth, which could be important if Ezirim takes a step back or injuries occur.
