Saints have reported called about the Colts running back.
The New Orleans Saints are among the teams that have made preliminary inquiries with the Indianapolis Colts for running back Marlon Mack. The Saints have had back-up running back problems ever since Tony Jones, Jr. went down and was placed on IR. They have brought in a whole bunch of running backs to try and replace his absence, most recently veteran RB Lamar Miller.
Marlon Mack has been slowly fazed-out of Indianapolis and has been in trade rumors for weeks. His best season was in 2019 where he hit 1,091 yards and 8 touchdowns. Since then, he’s been pushed down the depth chart and removed from the starting role with the addition of Johnathon Taylor. This season, Mack only has 25 attempts for 97 yards. Mack has been a successful running back in this league in the past, and will be a hot name at the trade deadline.
I’m told the #Chiefs, #Panthers, #49ers &/t #Saints are among teams that made preliminary inquiries for #Colts RB Marlon Mack over the last few weeks. Any teams potentially dealing for Mack would acquire his 2021 base salary of $1M fully guaranteed (prorated), per league source.

The Saints have will much competition when trying to acquire Mack. The move would be affordable for the Saints considering Mack only has a $1M fully guaranteed salary this year with a total cap hit of $2M. Mack signed a one-year deal with the Colts this offseason, so he’s playing on the last year of his deal.
The Saints will be buyers at the trade deadline. They have already called the Colts for a backup running, so we know that they are on the phones trying to improve this roster. Stay tuned for more Saints trade rumors to come with the November 2nd trade deadline around the corner.
