Saints Fans Not Happy With Team’s Decision On Derek Carr

New Orleans Saints fans won’t be getting a new head coach – or a new starting quarterback – heading into the 2024 NFL season.

Despite another subpar year, the team is sticking with head coach Dennis Allen. To make matters worse, at least according to some Saints fans, the team is also riding with quarterback Derek Carr for the foreseeable future.

Before the 2023 season kicked off, the Saints signed Carr to a four-year, $150 million deal. Despite falling short of a playoff spot in the worst division in the NFL, the Saints restructured Carr’s deal in a way that likely solidifies his spot on the roster moving forward, according to Luke Johnson of NOLA.com.

“Based on conversations in Mobile, expect the Saints to follow that path and restructure Carr’s contract before the start of the new league year, which would effectively tie them to the quarterback for at least the next two seasons,” Johnson wrote.

Fans don’t seem to be pleased.

“Not surprised they’re probably going this route. Would pretty much mean Carr is on the Saints for the next two seasons. Oh well,” said The Spun’s very own – and down bad Saints fan – Chris Rosvoglou.

“well i gracefully resign from my saint fan duties for the year 2024-25.. i’ll see you boys next spring,” added another.

“Restructure? They need to Revoke,” joked a third.

On paper Carr had a fine season, finishing with 3,878 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions. However, when taking into account he made over $37 million, fans expect a bit more.
