The New Orleans Saints selected Drew Brees for induction into their Hall of Fame on Thursday.
Brees will enter the team’s Hall of Fame alone in the 2024 class. Per ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, the choice was “quick and unanimous.”
Fans congratulated the legendary quarterback on the recognition.
“Well deserved!!! The best player in franchise history and one of the best to ever do it at the quarterback position,” Andre Underwood wrote. “Congrats Drew!!”
“Forever my GOAT,” Saints social media director Alex Restrepo declared.
“No other athlete will impact me quite like Drew did,” a fan said. “He’s the reason I love football today. Congrats Drew.”
“Deserves his own wing in Saints HOF,” Saints podcaster Ralph Malbrough declared.
“Next stop, Canton,” broadcaster Kaleb Blanton said.
Brees comfortably holds the franchise record with 68,010 passing yards. He has more passing touchdowns (491) as a Saint than the next seven quarterbacks on the leaderboard combined.
The 13-time Pro Bowler amassed five of the league’s 15 5,000-yard passing seasons during his 15 seasons in New Orleans. Brees set a single-season record when completing 74.4 percent of his passes in 2019.
Brees also led the Saints to their only Super Bowl championship in franchise history. He should be a no-doubt choice for the Pro Football Hall of Fame when eligible in 2026.
“This is a tremendous honor,” Brees said at the team’s press conference announcing his Hall of Fame selection on Thursday. “I am so grateful to everybody here and forever will be. Once a Saint, always a Saint.”
