
New Orleans selected Broughton 71st overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The New Orleans Saints have signed defensive tackle Vernon Broughton to a four-year contract.

Broughton, 6-4, 305, was the first of two third round selections (71st overall) for New Orleans out of the University of Texas. In five seasons with the Longhorns, he played in 56 career games and was credited with 70 tackles (39 solo), 10.5 stops for loss, six sacks for loss of 40 yards, 15 quarterback hits, four fumble recoveries, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles. In 2024, Broughton was a mainstay on the Longhorns defensive line, appearing in all 16 games for the College Football Playoff semifinalists and recorded 39 tackles (24 solo), four sacks, 4.5 stops for loss, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
QB Tyler Shough is now the only remaining unsigned player in the Saints’ 2025 draft class.
