Saints Downgrade Taysom Hill’s Status For Sunday’s Game vs. Eagles

The New Orleans Saints have been one of the best stories of the first two weeks in the NFL. They’ve looked like the league’s best team so far, blowing out the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys in back-to-back weeks.

The Saints are looking to end their three-season playoff drought, and they’re off to a good start after picking up two wins in their conference to open the season. This week, the Saints will welcome the Philadelphia Eagles to New Orleans in another NFC battle.

The Saints will try to protect their home field, but they may have to do so without one of their most dynamic playmakers.

According to Matthew Paras of the The Times-Picayune and The Advocate, Taysom Hill has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday’s game.

Hill is officially designated as a tight end, but the former BYU star has shown the ability to play multiple positions, from quarterback to running back and everywhere in between. He’ll even appear on special teams for the Saints if needed.

Hil suffered a chest injury late in last week’s win against the Cowboys, and head coach Dennis Allen kept his status under wraps when talking to the media on Friday.

“He’s great. He’ll be listed as questionable on the injury report and we’ll see how he does over the next couple of days,” Allen said. “If he’s able to go, he’ll be out there, that’s for sure.”

Hill has only two catches in two games this season, but his ability as a blocker and as an extra skill player to account for on offense makes him an important piece to the Saints’ offense.

New Orleans will look to some of their other early season stars like Alvin Kamara, who had a four-touchdown day against Dallas. Rashid Shaheed has also played well, catching two touchdown passes from Derek Carr and showing an ability to make explosive plays.

We’ll see what the Saints can do against the Eagles on Sunday, a game that will be more difficult for them to navigate without one of their best offensive talents.
