New Orleans Saints getting back to full strength ahead of Monday Night Football matchup
The New Orleans Saints have been plagued by injury since before the season even began. But even with key offensive pieces like offensive weapon Taysom Hill and WR/KR Deonte Harris out for Monday Night’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, they look to be getting healthier.
Saints inactives:
– Taysom Hill (concussion)
– Deonte Harris (hamstring)
– Payton Turner (calf)
– Dwayne Washington (neck)
– Ian Book
– Malcolm Roach

Inactive tonight will be both Harris and Hill, but also RB Dwayne Washington and rookie DE Payton Turner, who were both ruled out on Saturday’s final injury report. DT Malcolm Roach, DE Jaylyn Holmes, and QB Ian Book will all also be inactive for this matchup.
While Turner is out for this matchup, the Saints do get another player back just in time from injured reserve in DE Marcus Davenport. Davenport looked promising throughout the offseason and opening the season, but an early injury sidelined him quickly. Now he’s back just in time to help the Saints’ struggling pass rush attack on the road.
Also returning from injured reserve will be LB Kwon Alexander and WR Tre’Quan Smith. What New Orleans does with Alexander and standout rookie LB Pete Werner will be very interesting to see. Smith, on the other hand, should find himself immediately folded into the action trying to give the Saints’ WR group a boost as its most experienced available player in the system.
Reinforcements on the way for the Saints tonight, as the team has officially activated LB Kwon Alexander, DE Marcus Davenport and WR TreQuan Smith to the active roster from IR.

This list of inactives also means the Saints will have their “starting five” available on the offensive line for the first time since five or so snaps into their opening game against the Green Bay Packers. Starting center Erik McCoy and LT Terron Armstead practiced at a limited capacity throughout the week and look ready to get back into the action for New Orleans. We’ll see if there is any kind of reintroduction plan or pitch count for the both of them. But it’s hard to imagine them not getting back out on the field now that they’re declared available. Which gives a ton of mobility back to this Saints offensive line.
As for the Seahawks, head coach Pete Carroll said he’d be surprised if pass rusher Darrell Taylor didn’t play this evening, and it looks like he’s surprised.

Taylor has the most sacks for the Seattle defense with four, and is the only Seahawks defender with more than one sack. He’s a big loss for Seattle as the Saints’ offensive line gets healthier.
The biggest injury news for Seattle however, continues to be Russell Wilson, their star quarterback, being unavailable. Because he’s on injured reserve, he doesn’t not show up on the inactives list or injury report. Geno Smith will be the Seahawks quarterback. Smith went 23/32 for 209 yards and a touchdown last weekend. He was also sacked five times and lost a costly fumble in overtime.
Seattle hosts New Orleans tonight on Monday Night Football in what should be a rainy and muggy matchup. Weather aside, the Saints will have to find a way to generate explosion without two major contributors on offense, but have the talent and personnel to do so, especially with a healthy offensive line.
