Outside of the expected absences, several players have been added to the Saints’ injury report on Wednesday.

A lengthy injury report for the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday even with the three expected absences of cornerback Marshon Lattimore, defensive end Marcus Davenport, and center Erik McCoy.

Some of the absences will need the context of Thursday’s participation report as they could be more rest/precautionary than more serious injury concerns. But the three names that should stand out most to Saints fans are defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon, who had a strip sack against the Packers, slot corner C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and linebacker Kwon Alexander.

Many are wondering if Alexander’s absense is more rest related, but if not the Saints could be a little short on linebackers with rookie Pete Werner and third-year backer Chase Hansen listed on the report.

Carolina Panthers

As for the Panthers, no players missed practice on Wednesday, though three were limited.

Of the three limited participants, Pat Elflein and John Miller are starting offensive lineman. Miller was activated off of the Reserve/COVID list on Wednesday as well, likely not in time to participate in practice. While the Saints are down defensive lineman at the top of the week, will be worth watching the Panthers’ report over the week to track the health of their offensive line.

DaQuan Jones had the second most pass rush snaps in the Panthers’ six-sack performance against the Jets last week. He totaled four pressures and opened opportunities for others on the line. He’ll also be a key injury to track during the week.

In addition to the status of the injury report, coaching will be a big storyline this week. The Saints are also without a few positional coaches on the offensive side. The team is finding ways to navigate their limited number of assistants in unique ways.
