The New Orleans Saints have been dominating the football headlines over the past few days.
Earlier this week, they pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints added a first-round pick in 2022 by essentially giving up a future first-round, second-round and third-round pick.
Just a day later, the team made headlines by releasing former Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Blake Bortles. But the team wasn’t quite done making moves this week.
On Tuesday afternoon, the team added a veteran tight end to the roster. According to a report from Saints insider Nick Underhill, the team signed former Chicago Bears tight end JP Holtz.

Holtz went undrafted out of Pitt in 2016, but eventually landed with Washington for his first two NFL seasons. He didn’t see significant playing time until the 2019 season when he racked up seven receptions for 91 yards.
After two more seasons in Chicago as a depth piece, Holtz could assert himself in a weak tight end room in New Orleans.
