It’s been a rough year for Michael Thomas to say the least.
Thomas was recently placed on the physically unable to perform list because he’s still recovering from an ankle injury that he suffered in Week 1 of the 2020 season. On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints had an update on Thomas’ status, and unfortunately it’s not ideal.
New Orleans has placed Thomas on the Reserve/COVID-19 list this Tuesday. The timing of this update makes sense because ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently announced that a player on the Saints tested positive for COVID-19.
Thomas isn’t the only member on the Saints dealing with COVID-19 at the moment. Six offensive coaches and a nutritionist on the team have also tested positive this week.
The Saints have now placed WR Michael Thomas on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Even though Thomas has been rehabbing on his ankle injury, he hasn’t stayed away from the team. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football recently said that Thomas was doing his rehab work with the team in Fort Worth.
Thomas’ status for Week 2 of the season won’t be affected by this development because he wasn’t going to play anyway. New Orleans is hopeful that he’ll return to action in late October after the bye week.
When healthy, Thomas is one of the best wideouts in the NFL. However, he hasn’t been able to stay on the field over the past 12 months.
