The Saints will head to Irvine in August but have no plans to hold joint practices with the Chargers.
Earlier this year it was reported that the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers would practice together ahead of their preseason matchup on August 10th. However, Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore confirmed on Thursday that those joint practices will no longer take place.
No joint practices with the Chargers, it turns out. Just practicing at UC Irvine https://t.co/6WCytNL8Lb

The Saints are set to practice in California for nine days from August 6th through August 15th, with their game against the Chargers sandwiched in the middle on August 10th. The Saints have participated in quite a few joint practices in the past with teams such as the Chargers, Packers and others. Just last year they were supposed to practice with the 49ers, but those were cancelled due to injuries. This will now be the second straight year their joint practice plans have been cancelled.
The Saints are no strangers to practicing in California and elsewhere during the offseason either. Just last year the Saints went to UC Irvine during training camp instead of staying in New Orleans. They’ve also practiced in West Virginia and Mississippi this century.
Fans were not permitted at last year’s practices in California, but whether that happens again remains to be seen.
While the full training camp schedule hasn’t been announced yet, the Saints will still host a handful of training camp practices, which fans will be allowed to attend, in New Orleans prior to their practices in California.
