RUMOR: Steelers Linked to Former First Rounder – Chargers, Chiefs Could Be Highest Bidders

In a latest rumor, the Pittsburgh Steelers could pursue former first-rounder Chris Olave before the 2025 regular season. According to reports, the team is looking to add another wide receiver after trading away George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers did express satisfaction with the receiver room despite the trade, but that won’t get them far. After trading for DK Metcalf this offseason, they can’t expect him to carry most of the passes from whoever takes over as the signal-caller of this franchise.

It wasn’t too long before the Steelers were looking to trade for Jets’ Allen Lazard as a possible replacement for Pickens. However, Olave seems like the better prototype in this situation that could excel as his own dynamic No. 1 spot next to Metcalf, similar to the style that the Cowboys have in CeeDee Lamb and Pickens. It’s no secret that the Steelers are in dire need of a receiver since Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson don’t have the capabilities to emerge as the No. 2 wideout behind Metcalf. Olave might be coming off an injury, but that probably doesn’t matter to teams that need a wide receiver who could have a lot of potential.

The Saint playmaker might be looking to move on either way, since they had a hectic offseason that the wideout himself may not want to stay. Many should expect Olave to receive interest from several teams in the coming weeks, especially since the Steelers are in the preliminary stages of trying to pursue the wide receiver. However, these two teams could offer better contracts this offseason.

New Life for McConkey

It’s hard to imagine that the Los Angeles Chargers want to see a change in their offense this upcoming season. Despite signing Mike Williams, he won’t get this team back to the Super Bowl since he’s washed up, and the same can be said about Tre Harris, who is entering his first year in the league. 2024 Draft Pick Ladd McConkey is the best receiver on this roster, so it’s troubling to think he may have to carry this pass attack again, given that he’s still adjusting to the league. While they were looking to sign Keenan Allen, they couldn’t afford to go backwards and mortgage the past when the team is obviously building a new regime under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Meanwhile, if they want to embrace the full rebuild, they should trade for Chris Olave so he can establish himself in Los Angeles as a homegrown playmaker. He’s coming off a brutal injury, but he could be entering the right situation with the Chargers, who are seeing a lot of promise.

The Third Dynamite?

However, the Kansas City Chiefs will likely need a third long-time wide receiver. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are the two keystone wideouts that will stay around as long as they are healthy and can make an impact. The Chiefs have always had a receiver problem, but they must build around what they have. Marquise Brown is coming back, but he’s only in it for a Super Bowl and could sign elsewhere on a long-term contract if he impresses this year.

Olave is the obvious fit as he has the same body type as Worthy and Rice.
