Due to the impact Hurricane Ida had on the Gulf Coast region, the New Orleans Saints will host the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 12 at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville for their season opener.
The location for the Packers-Saints game was announced on Wednesday by Jeff Duncan of The Times-Picayune and New Orleans Advocate. NFL fans thought AT&T Stadium would be the Saints’ temporary home, but there’s a concert being held next weekend that made that scenario impossible.
While the main reason why the Saints are playing in Jacksonville is because every other NFL stadium was off the table, it’s worth mentioning that there’s an added incentive to playing the Packers in the Florida heat.
Duncan pointed out that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ production in the Sunshine State isn’t very good.
“The Saints considered every detail in choosing Jacksonville to host its ‘home opener’ against the Packers, including Aaron Rodgers’ 3-4 lifetime record and 78.1 career passer rating in the state of Florida,” Duncan wrote on Twitter.

Rodgers picked apart New Orleans’ secondary last season, completing 21 of 32 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns.
If the Saints want to be victorious against the Packers this season, their defense will need to be much better against Rodgers.
Kickoff for the Packers-Saints game is at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
