After his release from the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens could bring back Jadeveon Clowney in a potential reunion. Bleacher Report believes Clowney is still one of the most prolific athletes in the league, and the Ravens may sign him in September, right before Week 1 of the regular season. Clowney is coming off a down year in Carolina, just recording 5.5 sacks and 46 total tackles, which was much less than what he had in Baltimore. The three-time Pro Bowler never became a true sack artist either way, but he did have a breakout season with the Ravens in 2023, and he might have one more run in him to help finish off what he couldn’t when he was in Baltimore.
Originally selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the former South Carolina product isn’t ready to hang up his cleats anytime soon, so it’s a matter of when, not if, he signs with a new team. There hasn’t been a report of which teams he is in communication with, but one could predict that at least one is the Baltimore Ravens. Clowney is aging, so this means he needs to be ring chasing at this moment in his career. The Ravens are floating in the same boat, so someone like Clowney could help salvage the linebacker room behind Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh.

Best Fits
Los Angeles Chargers
After going cheap during the free agency, the Los Angeles Chargers should invite the idea of getting a free agent like Jadeveon Clowney. The team almost had a strong trench unit if they had kept Poona Ford. Instead, they’re rolling the dice on a cheap journeyman, Da’Shawn Hand, while re-signing Teair Tart. The good news is that Khalil Mack is back, but he will only exceed expectations again if you get Clowney in the same linebacker room on the other side, at least to give this team a true old-school physical defense.
Kansas City Chiefs
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t spent much in free agency other than extending Nick Bolton. Since the team got Joshua Uche last year during the midseason, it means they could be in the market of looking for an upgrade over Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal. Since Uche didn’t sign back, they could pursue Clowney in a one-year contract to get their vengeance in next year’s Super Bowl.
New Orleans Saints
As the New Orleans Saints will probably be rebuilding this upcoming 2025 regular season offensively, they will likely need to lean on their defense. After trading for Davon Godchaux and signing Jonathan Bullard, the Saints are building a defensive roster of hidden gems. Clowney could bolster this Saints team in the best way possible to give Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler several chances to stay on the field.
Dallas Cowboys
If anyone loves to give out one-year contracts, it’s the Dallas Cowboys. However, they have been allergic to getting the older veterans on their roster to complete a potential championship. Jack Sanborn and Kenneth Murray Jr. are solid, but who do they have that has championship experience? Clowney could fit the bill easily and bring the Cowboys back in the Super Bowl conversations.
