Were you surprised to see so many wide receivers get let go?
The New Orleans Saints have officially trimmed down their active roster. Gone are players like Natrell Jamerson and Josiah Bronson, and instead there were surprise players to make the roster like Aldrick Rosas and Jeff Heath.
But there were also some surprising cuts.
WR Kawaan Baker was a 7th round draft pick from the 2021 NFL Draft who played at a position of need for the Saints.
Speaking of the thin wide receiver position, Chris Hogan was recently signed this offseason when news first broke about the Michael Thomas injury.
FB Alex Armah, who was signed early in the offseason, was one of the team’s lone new players.
RB Devonta Freeman was also signed this offseason, but right before the preseason, and has been a former Pro Bowler.
OL Derrick Kelly has shown promise before, but appears to have been outplayed by others on a deep offensive line.
WR Kevin White is a former first round pick who has all of the measurables Sean Payton would love in a wide receiver.
It’s still not clear if all of the above will make it to the Saints practice squad, with Armah and White already returning. While we wait news on the rest, who was the most surprising cut by the Saints as they cut down to 53? Vote in the poll. Explain in the comments. Send me presents.
