Standard “F” through “A” grade system.
We covered it a bit this morning in today’s FREE e-newsletter the Who Dat Herald (and if you haven’t signed up, you should do that here), but the New Orleans Saints have had a pretty quiet offseason.
They’ve lost more free agents than they’ve been able to retain, and the “only” new players they’ve brought in are a fullback, blocking tight end, and backup defensive end:
- Saints signing fullback Alex Armah of the Carolina Panthers (source)
- Saints adding tight end Nick Vannett after his release from the Denver Broncos (source)
- Saints to sign defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon to two-year deal (source)
But at the end of the day, how you grade the Saints offseason so far depends on what your expectations were for the team this offseason and whether you believe those expectations are being fulfilled. If you wanted the Saints to re-sign Jameis Winston but were afraid they’d lose him in free agency to the Chicago Bears, then Winston’s new one-year contract should be a big win in your mind. On the other hand, if you wanted the Saints to sign Jonnu Smith after the team parted ways with Jared Cook, then you are likely pretty disappointed that the only tight end they’ve signed so far is Nick Vannett.
But let’s get your thoughts. How do you feel about the Saints offseason moves so far? What grade would you give? Vote in the poll. Explain in the comments. Send me presents.
