In a pretty surprising turn of events, the New Orleans Saints reportedly decided to part ways with co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Kris Richard on Wednesday, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
This marks the second coaching loss on that side of the ball after New Orleans’ other co-DC Ryan Nielsen took the Falcons coordinator job.
The NFL world reacted to the move on social media.
“Surprising. Fans were under the impression that he’d be stepping into the full time DC role. Saints down BAD,” a user replied.
“This is a curious move for Allen,” another said.
“Our old friend,” Blogging The Boys tweeted.
“We just get rid of one of the more sought after coaches..?” asked a NOLA podcast.
“Have to wonder if Steelers might look into finding a role for Kris Richard. Interviewed for Steelers DC position last year,” commented Steelers Network.
Lots of change down in New Orleans.
