The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to New Orleans as favorite son Halloween day.
The New Orleans Saints don’t find themselves in these shoes very often. Not recently at least. The Saints will be underdogs at home to a division rival. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to the Crescent City as 4.5-point favorites in their Halloween afternoon matchup this weekend according to SportsBettingDime.com.
Only seven times have the Saints been regular season underdogs to a division opponent since 2006 (the Sean Payton era). This will be the first time in that period that the Bucs will be the favorite in one of their Superdome matchups.
New Orleans has fared moderately in these division games, coming out 4-3 against the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers as underdogs. As for covering, the Saints are 5-2 against the spread in those games. Both of the losses against the spread came in Week 17 matchups against the Carolina Panthers.
As a whole, the Saints have performed very well as home dogs and this season 2-0 as when not favored home or away.
New Orleans is 10-6 battling against favored away teams since 2006. The confidence this team has exuded all season thus far, particularly on the defensive side, might have you feeling confident about this matchup as well. Good news for Louisiana sports fans, soon, you’ll be able to turn that confidence into action.
According to SportsBettingDime.com, Louisiana will be launching sports betting as early as November 1st but that doesn’t mean local residents can’t go and register early. Online platforms may not launch till later in the month but what matters is that we can finally start betting on the boys this season.
The over/under for this Saints-Bucs matchup is currently set to 49.5. In every occasion except once in which New Orleans has been a home underdog against a division rival, the teams have hit the over. The only game that didn’t go over? The Saints’ 23-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons in 2006 as they reopened the Superdome. The “Rebirth”. game.
