Earlier Tuesday night, news broke that the Las Vegas Raiders gave quarterback Derek Carr permission to speak with one NFL team about a potential trade.
Carr received permission to meet with the New Orleans Saints as he and the Raiders attempt to facilitate a trade. The meeting is reportedly just “exploratory” and no trade is imminent.
How much would the Saints have to give up if they wanted to trade for Carr? According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, a third-round pick might get the job done.
“Inquiring teams want to rework deal, which they believe Carr probably won’t do. Raiders’ asking price modest. One NFL source said 3rd rd pick could get it done. N.O. believed to be only team engaged to extent of visit as of now,” Fowler said.
A third-round price tag is nothing when it comes to landing a quality starting quarterback. However, he also comes with a hefty contract that pays him over $40 million per season.
It’s possible – albeit unlikely – that Carr reworks his contract to appease a new team.
Where will Carr play in 2023?
