On Saturday, Bleacher Report NFL analyst Kris Knox released his “bold trade predictions” for the 2021 season.
His predictions certainly live up to the “bold” distinction, planning for some potential big-time trades: Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore to the Arizona Cardinals for a third-round pick, Browns tight end David Njoku to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a fifth-round pick, Colts running back Marlon Mack to the Miami Dolphins for wide receiver Preston Williams and Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas to the Jags in exchange for cornerback C.J. Henderson.

Stephon Gilmore is currently involved in contract disputes with the Patriots as he enters the final season of his five-year, $65 million deal. New England placed the two-time All-Pro corner on their PUP list to start the season where he’ll spend the first six games of the year. Trade rumors for Gilmore have surfaced over the past few seasons but nothing has ever come of them.
David Njoku is heading into his fifth season with Cleveland after a relatively down year in 2020. With a wealth of depth at the tight end position (Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant), the Browns could consider a trade for the former first-round draft pick.
Marlon Mack is entering his fifth year with the Colts after suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 1 of the 2020 season. Third-string Nyheim Hines stepped up as a solid backup option for Jonathan Taylor this past season, opening up trade possibilities for Mack. Preston Williams is coming off a four-touchdown season with the Dolphins and could help fill the Colts’ need at WR.
Trade speculation involving Michael Thomas has been buzzing all offseason — and that speculation took another jump when news of his re-aggravated ankle injury surfaced earlier this summer. While the Saints may be reluctant to trade their two-time All-Pro receiver, it could be time to cut ties if he continues to miss time on the field. Knox believes a trade for former No. 9 overall pick C.J. Henderson would be enough to get the job done.
