I thought I was going to miss my third #SuperBowl but found a late ticket to the game. Right next to Jerry. pic.twitter.com/2W8HcbDx5y

The COVID-19 pandemic has continued to impact the NFL, including Super Bowl LV; the crowd capacity has been reduced to just 25,000 live spectators, some of them being vaccinated healthcare workers from around league cities. To help fill out the stands, the NFL has installed life-size cutouts, many of which were purchased by fans, while others feature iconic players, coaches, team personnel, and media personalities from pro football’s storied history.

And at least one of them is wearing black and gold. Former Dallas Cowboys executive Gil Brandt shared a photo from Raymond James Stadium showing his cutout seated shoulder-to-shoulder with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and in the background you can spot Saints quarterback Drew Brees peeking out.

It’s a cool cameo. It’s just a shame that Brees isn’t preparing to play in the game himself. Instead, he’s watching from home like the rest of us, and maybe working on his retirement speech. With a career in broadcasting ahead of him with NBC Sports, he’ll need the practice.
