Hurricane Ida slammed Louisiana this past week as the fifth-strongest hurricane in history to hit the mainland United States. The storm left devastating damage and extensive power outages in and around the New Orleans metropolitan area.

A series of pictures from the New Orleans Saints practice facility showed just how the strong Ida was when it touched down in the state.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared two photos of a trailer at the Saints training facility that had been moved when the hurricane passed through the area. The cold trailer, which the team’s players use in-between practice periods, weigh 6.5 tons, but Ida’s blustering winds move the structure ten feet.

Take a look:

Back at their training facility in Metairie, La., the Saints have a cold trailer that gets to 37 degrees to cool off players in-between practice periods. Hurricane Ida’s 150 mph winds hit the 6.5 ton trailer and moved it 10 feet. pic.twitter.com/x6zNMc10wp

The Saints revealed that their home stadium, the Caesars Superdome, did not sustain any significant damage from Hurricane Ida over the weekend. However, the team will be forced to adjust significantly over the next few weeks in the wake of the storm.

The NFL already announced that the Saints will play their season opener against the Green Bay Packers at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville on Sept. 12. According to Jeff Duncan of Nola.com, the team will practice at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas and make that area their “base of operations” for the next few weeks.

Saints head coach Sean Payton gave a grim outlook on the situation when he said he expected the team to be away from home for the first quarter of the NFL season. The situation remains fluid, but based on the damage in New Orleans, the team could end up being away from the city for even longer.

Saints fans will be disappointed to hear that they can’t watch their team play at home during this difficult time in Louisiana. Hopefully, the city of New Orleans can recover as quickly as possible and football will be back in the Superdome in the near future.
