Fortunately for Jameis Winston, the New Orleans Saints will not select their starting quarterback based off Wednesday’s practice. The former No. 1 pick went viral this afternoon because he lost his footing while running through a padded tackle machine.
Winston isn’t known for being a shifty quarterback, which makes sense considering he nearly fell while trying to complete this drill.
Instead of being down on himself this afternoon, Winston gave a funny explanation as to why he was struggling to get through the tackle machine.
“That second pad on the left got me with that hit stick,” Winston tweeted moments ago.
That second pad on the left got me with that hit stick! 😅😅 #StillStanding https://t.co/wiMkItL4zT

It’s always refreshing to see a player be able to take the hits just like Winston is doing here.
Winston didn’t have a great day at practice on Wednesday, but the Saints have been impressed with his overall body of work thus far in camp.
One of the main things Winston is trying to prove this year is that he doesn’t always need to make the game-changing play for New Orleans. That’s something he learned from Drew Brees last season.
“Just being able to execute and do my job, that’s something I’ve learned from Drew,” Winston told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “Be Bruce Wayne until you have to be Batman. You don’t have to be Batman all the time.”
Only time will tell if Winston can bounce back from today’s practice – literally and figuratively.
