Jameis Winston returned to the New Orleans Saints on Monday. But according to Saints reporter Nick Underhill, the free agent quarterback nearly landed himself in the AFC South.
Per Underhill, “The Colts were sending a jet on Monday morning to bring Jameis Winston for a visit until his focus shifted back toward the Saints.”

Winston and the Saints agreed to terms on a two-year, $28 million deal, with $21 million guaranteed. Prior to landing Jamies back in the bayou, New Orleans was entertaining bringing in Deshaun Watson; who eventually landed in Cleveland with the Browns.
After almost landing Winston in Indy, the Colts made the move for Falcons 14-year veteran QB Matt Ryan; following the Philip Rivers blueprint that landed them in the playoffs not too long ago.

The former No. 1 overall pick posted a career-high passer rating of 102.8 with the Saints last season. Before Winston’s year was cut short by an ACL injury, Jameis completed nearly 60 percent of his passes for 1,170 yards and 14 touchdowns to just three interceptions.
All while leading New Orleans to a 5-2 record.
Now both sides go forward with a viable option behind center. But things could’ve looked awfully different had the former Heisman Trophy winner not changed his mind.
