A potential move that makes sense for both sides.
The New Orleans Saints tight end room always felt like a decent part of the roster going into training camp, but one that could still be improved upon. After the retirement of Dallin Holker, a roster spot was open for the Saints to make this improvement, and it just so happens that a great TE option recently hit the open market.
This past weekend, the Seattle Seahawks released former first-round pick Noah Fant, and teams were expected to be very interested, including a certain team in New Orleans. Per Jordan Schultz, Fant is set to visit with the Saints next.

Going into his 7th year, Fant has never reached his first-round potential, but he is still a really good TE option for the Saints. Adding Fant next to Juwan Johnson would create a dynamic receiving duo in the TE room and allow both players to play more freely in the offense. In his career, Fant has actually been statistically better than Johnson, is one year younger, and has played more seasons. Signing Fant would be a really good roster upgrade, and on a cheaper contract than Johnson’s. The main issue that comes with signing Fant is his blocking, which has consistently been poor throughout his career. This may just come down to buy-in, and if Kellen Moore believes that to be the case, there should be a plan in place to improve that area of his game.
With Fant’s market being very active, the Saints will need to make a great impression, but they also should not have to go above and beyond to sign the 27-year-old. New Orleans must continue being careful with their cap space, but if a good deal can be made, signing Noah Fant makes too much sense.
