Along with Brees, other NFL legends who will be eligible for the first time include Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, running back Frank Gore, and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers.
Brees played 20 seasons in the NFL, throwing for 80,358 yards, 571 touchdowns, and 67.7% completion percentage as well as winning Super Bowl 44 with the Saints and being named the game’s MVP. Over his incredible career, the former Purdue quarterback broke numerous records that remain unbroken, including the most seasons with 5,000+ passing yards (5), the most career games with 300+ passing yards (123), and the most consecutive games with a passing touchdown (54).
The NFL legend is understandably considered a first-ballot Hall of Famer and will be inducted during his first year of eligibility. Brees is a consensus top-10 quarterback of all time, with a powerful case to be considered top-5.
