Former Saints HC Dennis Allen set to interview for a new opportunity

This is just the beginning.

In Week 9 of the regular season, the New Orleans Saints were upset by the Carolina Panthers, and soon after, Saints head coach Dennis Allen was fired. This was due to many reasons, but one of the main reason was due tp the regression on defense. During his time as defensive coordinator in New Orleans, Allen created a dynamic defense that was one of the best in the NFL each season. It was not a surprise when he got promoted to head coach in 2022. His mastery at defense was too much to overlook, and if the Saints were not the team to make Allen a head coach, another team would have. Until the middle of this past season, the defense was never an issue with Allen as head coach, but it was evident that he was much better as a coordinator in this league. It was likely that the former head coach would be a hot commodity this offseason, and per Jeremy Fowler, the Colts plan to interview Dennis Allen this week to be their next defensive coordinator.

Depending on how the post-season goes, Dennis Allen could have a line of teams fighting for his signature. The Colts defense has regressed in recent years, and with all the talent that they have on their roster, Allen could be a perfect hire for them. Other teams that are currently looking for a defensive coordinator are the Falcons, 49ers, Bengals, and Colts, but any team also looking for a new head coach could be in the market for new coordinators, including the Saints. There are also teams that could be searching for a defensive coordinator due to their DC leaving for a head coach job, such as the Lions, Chiefs, Vikings, Chargers, Broncos, or Dolphins.

Dennis Allen will be a top option for teams this offseason, but In your opinion, who do you think will sign the former Saints head coach? What team would you not want to see Allen go to? Let us know in the comments below.
