Former Ravens Second Rounder Named “Top Trade Asset” – 3 Logical Fits

May 25, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After the most unproductive 2024 campaign, many sources believe linebacker David Ojabo could be the Baltimore Ravens’ best trade asset before the 2025 regular season. According to the report, Ojabo and Odafe Oweh are heading into a contract year this season, so while they probably want to bring both back, it doesn’t look promising for Ojabo to return. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Michigan product hasn’t been able to stay on the field ever since stepping on the field for his rookie year. Ojabo missed most of the first two seasons of his career, and it didn’t get any better from last season, so it’s hard to imagine seeing who is out there that would trade for him.

Ojabo doesn’t have too much value, but the Ravens could get a late draft pick at best if anything. While the Ravens don’t have a lot of holes, they have the biggest question marks in their linebacker unit. After losing Patrick Queen last offseason, the Ravens haven’t been able to mortgage their future to find another capable replacement. Trenton Simpson failed to live up to expectations last year, since he had one of the most disastrous campaigns just like Ojabo.

Despite drafting Mike Green and Teddye Buchanan, it will not be enough to address the need until after a few years. However, they need to either trade for cut Ojabo if he can’t make an impact anymore.

Potential Destinations

Los Angeles Chargers

Ever since the Chargers released Joey Bosa this offseason, the team has yet to find a capable replacement. Khalil Mack is the only ferocious defensive playmaker who can make an impact and live up to the expectation of winning football games in the trenches. While Ojabo hasn’t been able to stay consistent, he could share the snaps with Junior Colson and Daiyan Henley this season. The Chargers might not dramatically improve from last year, but it gives them a legitimate chance to get the sacks.

They lost Poona Ford this offseason, so they need some type of change to give them an opportunity. Ojabo won’t single-handedly meet all the checkmarks of what Harbaugh wants in an old-school defensive talent, but it’s way better than what they have in Tuli Tuipulotu and Denzel Perryman.

New Orleans Saints

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints will likely need to lean on the defense to win their games this upcoming season. Following Derek Carr’s retirement, they will probably have a terrible offense with unproven quarterbacks between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler. Luckily, the defense made all the right moves, trading for Davon Godchaux and signing Justin Reid in free agency. Despite losing Willie Gay, they still have a lot of capable veterans like Chase Young and Cameron Jordan to lessen the stress.

However, they could use the depth to save Carl Granderson. Ojabo doesn’t need to be full-time, but be a presence behind him alongside Demario Davis.

Dallas Cowboys

While the Cowboys solidified their offense after acquiring George Pickens in a trade, they are just one step away from having a complete team. DeMarvion Overshown is coming back to fill the hole when the Cowboys lost Demarcus Lawrence. They don’t want to rush him back, which is why they signed Jack Sanborn and Kenneth Murray Jr. for temporary relief. Ojabo won’t be the best pass-rusher, but it doesn’t mean it won’t prevent him from adding reliability in rotation.
