Derek Carr’s trade market hasn’t been very active over the past few weeks, but it appears a landing spot has emerged.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler named the Saints as a team to “watch” in the Derek Carr sweepstakes.
“Watch for the New Orleans Saints here,” Fowler wrote. “A Carr-Saints connection was buzzing a bit in Mobile, and they could be a suitor. New Orleans has a first- and second-round pick from the Sean Payton deal, and head coach Dennis Allen coached Carr during his rookie year in Oakland.”
The reactions to this report from Fowler are all over the place.
“Saints feel like they gonna be in poverty for years to come & not just doing a full on rebuild,” one fan tweeted.
Another fan wrote, “They don’t wanna win.”
“In this division with the qbs that are all there, we’d run away with the division and he’d easily be the best QB in the division,” a Saints fan commented.
The Raiders have until Feb. 15 to make a decision on Carr. His base salary for the 2023 season will become fully guaranteed on that date.
Carr finished the 2022 season with 3,522 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. It was an underwhelming year for the Pro Bowl quarterback.
Do you think the Saints will acquire Carr this offseason?
