Waiver wire targets after Week 7 of the NFL regular season
One of the strangest fantasy football weeks of the year has finally concluded. The week started with having six teams on bye. These bye teams included offensive juggernauts like the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills. Several teams that did have games did not produce on the weekend either. The Chiefs and Ravens each disappointed on the week, only scoring a combined 20 points. Now that this week has mercifully concluded, it is time to look ahead to Week 8. Only two teams are on bye this week. After injuries and players emerging, these are the fantasy football waiver pick-ups after Week 7 of the NFL regular season.
Kenneth Gainwell, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles
Rostered percentage: ESPN(26%), Yahoo(22%)
The Eagles running backs have not gotten much use in the current offense. Miles Sanders suffering an ankle injury in Week 7 might help the relevance of Kenneth Gainwell though. Gainwell was already being used in the passing game for the Eagles. With Sanders hurt, Gainwell could be the primary back going forward. Boston Scott is likely to be mixed in as well, but Gainwell provides ability in running and pass catching. Gainwell could be a must while Sanders gets healthy. No word has been given with Sanders and how much time he will miss. Keep an eye on reports but stashing Gainwell could give teams a workhorse running back for the next couple of weeks.
Dante Pettis, Wide Receiver, New York Giants
Rostered percentage: ESPN(2%), Yahoo(1%)
Another week, another Giants wide receiver explodes into fantasy relevance. The Giants are incredibly banged up at receiver, leading to Dante Pettis being called up from the practice squad again in Week 7 action. Pettis once again delivered a solid performance for the Giants. Pettis caught all five of his targets for 39 yards and a touchdown. This Giants offense throws a lot while Saquon Barkley is sidelined, so the upside will be there each week for whoever can get on the field for this team.

Russell Gage, Wide Receiver, Atlanta Falcons
Rostered percentage: ESPN(10%), Yahoo(10%)
Russell Gage returned from injury for the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7 and immediately contributed on offense. Gage is likely the second option at wide receiver, but he still received six targets against the Dolphins. He turned these into four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. It is likely that Gage will be the passing option behind both Kyle Pitts and Calvin Ridley, but this team will pass the ball a lot the rest of the season. Worth a stash for those with receiver needs.
Mo Alie-Cox, Tight End, Indianapolis Colts
Rostered percentage: ESPN(14%), Yahoo(17%)
All he does it score touchdowns. In the red zone, Mo Alie-Cox has become Carson Wentz’s comfort blanket. Using tight ends is no stranger to Wentz and he seems to be clicking with Alie-Cox lately. In the last four games, Alie-Cox has scored four touchdowns. These touchdowns were scored with just 15 total targets combined as well. With the shallow tight end pool in fantasy football, you can do a lot worse than a guy who Wentz trusts in the red zone.
