ESPN: Surprise NFL Blockbuster Trade Could Happen This Draft

April 2, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

One ESPN source says a surprise NFL blockbuster trade that involves wide receiver Jalin Hyatt could happen this month. According to a report, the wideout could be on the trade block since the Jets may pursue him, being that Hyatt hasn’t been getting a ton of looks last season. Originally selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Tenessee product began his debut with the Giants two seasons ago, recording average numbers of 23 receptions for 373 receiving yards in 17 games but just seven starts. It seems odd that the Giants would trade Hyatt since he’s entering his third season in the league in September, but he did tease a trade last off-season.

The wide receiver didn’t like his role with the Giants, but the team found a way to keep him in the fold to see if anything changes. New quarterback Russell Wilson had good things to say about the wideout, but the Giants could trade before they even get to touch the field together. It’s hard to imagine seeing Hyatt in a new uniform, but understandably, the Jets need pass catchers after releasing Davante Adams. The Jets won’t be the only team that could pursue him during the draft because these five teams will likely find him a fit.

Possible Next Teams

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs will eventually need to start thinking about the future of their wide receiver group. Even though Marquise Brown is returning, it’s only for a one-year deal. Barring any more legal trouble, Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice are the longevity of this pass-catching group. Jalin Hyatt might have been rusty these past two seasons, but he could change the mojo in Kansas City once Brown leaves.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are no strangers to still having one of the worst groups of wide receivers in the league despite signing Mike Willams. He’s past his prime, while 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is a future No. 1 receiver. Quentin Johnston will probably get cut, so they may have no other choice but to trade for Hyatt. McConkey should be able to have some type of stability if Hyatt lands in LA.

Baltimore Ravens

For the Ravens, DeAndre Hopkins is joining forces for a Super Bowl again and, hopefully, for them to win the whole thing. However, Rashod Batman hasn’t been as consistent as Zay Flowers. There’s no word on what the future holds for DeVontez Walker if he stays around beyond this season, but since the Ravens probably won’t retain Nelson Agholor, the team should start fresh and trade for Hyatt.

New Orleans Saints

If it’s true, the Saints will likely be open to trading Chris Olave this NFL Draft since they’re building a new regime in New Orleans. Rashid Shaheed is somewhat of a capable wide receiver, but someone like Hyatt could receive more snaps with the Saints. Brandin Cooks is returning, but he isn’t the same anymore and Hyatt provides a little more upside.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills are open to bringing back wide receiver Amari Cooper but have yet to have any contract talks. Despite signing Khalil Shakir to an extension, the Bills need another receiver. Hyatt won’t be perfect, but it could give Josh Allen new life in the aerial attack.
