According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, there’s a lot of buzz surrounding the Saints at the Senior Bowl this week.
Saints head coach Dennis Allen was actually in Oakland when the Raiders drafted Derek Carr. They’ve been on good terms ever since.
Watch for the New Orleans Saints here. A Carr-Saints connection was buzzing a bit in Mobile, and they could be a suitor. New Orleans has a first- and second-round pick from the Sean Payton deal, and head coach Dennis Allen coached Carr during his rookie year in Oakland.
Carr’s base salary for the 2023 season becomes fully guaranteed in 12 days. He made it clear that he won’t extend the trigger date to give the Raiders more time.
In other words, it’s do or die for the Raiders.
As for the Saints, it’s pretty evident they could use a new quarterback. They started Andy Dalton for 14 games this season.
Carr struggled this season under Josh McDaniels, but let’s not forget that he’s a year removed from leading a dysfunctional Raiders team to the playoffs.
