The $1 million dollar donation assists with neck gaiters to stop the spread Covid-19.
As the pandemic continues to rage havoc throughout the nation, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is not sitting on the sideline. He’s taking action. Brees is known for extending a helping hand in the community. The list is long, from Hurricane Katrina to the Brees Dream Foundation, which provides much needed help for cancer patients. He is always up to something off the field when there is any type of need to be met.
So it should be no surprise, Brees recently partnered with Mission and the YMCA to help with providing neck gaiters across the country to underserved communities. “As a partner in MISSION, I am honored to collaborate with the YMCA to donate $1M of MISSION Gaiters to support these communities in need across the communities in need across the United States,” said Drew Brees.
Surely, people are familiar with the work YMCA does around the country helping young men in various neighborhoods throughout the nation. Be that as it may, MISSION is also partnered in with the YMCA to meet a need to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Serena Williams, Dwayne Wade, and Drew Brees collaborated to start MISSION back in 2009. The group of athletes worked together with MISSION to institute higher end technology to enhance performance with MISSION’s plethora of products.
MISSION also donated 1 million meals during the pandemic and $250,000 of cooling gear, to help front line workers do their job under challenging situations. Furthermore, MISSION is giving 50% of their sales from “YMCA Give Back Kits.” The kits give a 50% discount to potential customers and at the same time donate 50% of their sales.
The YMCA partnership is crucial educating underserved communities. “The Y is responding to the most pressing needs of our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kevin Washington, president and CEO of the YMCA.
This along with the help of Drew Brees make sense. Having a name of a well known professional football player can wield wonders by putting a face to the message. Brees is well known for giving his time and money over the years in New Orleans and with his time with the San Diego Chargers
People tend to forget how daunting the task of balancing the job of being a player, a husband and a father and pushing the envelope to make this world a better place. Brees has surpassed the call of duty plenty of times. Make no mistake, this won’t be the last. The constant battle of is far from the pandemic is far from over. Thankfully, Brees makes time for almost everything.
